Canada Visitor Visa & Tourist Visa Consultant in Mississauga
What is a Canada Visitor Visa?
A Canada Visitor Visa (also known as a Temporary Resident Visa or TRV) is an official document issued by a Canadian visa office that is placed in your passport to show that you have met the requirements for admission to Canada as a temporary resident.
Whether you are coming to Canada for tourism, to visit family and friends, or for a short business trip, citizens from visa-required countries must obtain a visitor visa before boarding their flight to Canada.
Who Needs a Visitor Visa?
Not everyone needs a visa to enter Canada. Citizens of visa-exempt countries (such as the United Kingdom, Australia, and most European nations) only need an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) if flying into Canada. However, citizens from countries like India, China, the Philippines, and Nigeria must apply for a Visitor Visa regardless of their mode of travel.
Types of Visitor Visas
- Single Entry Visa: Allows you to enter Canada only once. Once you leave Canada (excluding travel to the US or St. Pierre and Miquelon), you will need a new visa to return.
- Multiple Entry Visa: Allows you to come and go from Canada for 6 months at a time without having to reapply each time. It is typically valid for up to 10 years.
- Super Visa: A specific multiple-entry visa available only to parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents. For more information, visit our Super Visa page.
- Business Visitor Visa: For individuals coming to Canada to engage in international business activities without directly entering the Canadian labor market.

Eligibility Criteria and Common Refusal Reasons
Applying for a visitor visa might seem straightforward, but Canada has one of the highest refusal rates in the world for TRVs. To be eligible, you must satisfy an immigration officer that you:
- Have strong ties to your home country (a stable job, property, financial assets, family) that will compel you to return.
- Have enough money to sustain yourself during your stay without needing to work.
- Are in good health and have no criminal or immigration-related convictions.
- Will leave Canada at the end of your authorized stay.
A poorly prepared application that fails to adequately demonstrate these points will almost certainly result in a refusal. If you have been previously refused, you should not reapply using the same documents. Our team specializes in analyzing refusal notes (GCMS notes) and preparing robust reapplications.
The Application Process
The standard process involves submitting an online application, paying the processing fee ($100 CAD), and submitting your biometrics (fingerprints and a photo) at a local Visa Application Centre (VAC) if required. Depending on your country of residence, processing times can range from a few weeks to several months.
Visitor Visa FAQs
Most visitors are allowed to stay for up to 6 months from the day they enter Canada. The border services officer at the port of entry will determine your exact authorized stay and may put a date in your passport.
No. A visitor visa does not allow you to work or study in Canada. If you wish to work, you must apply for a Work Permit. Engaging in unauthorized work can result in deportation.
A multiple entry visa allows you to leave and return to Canada multiple times while the visa is valid. It is usually valid for up to 10 years, or one month before your passport expires, whichever comes first.
While not strictly mandatory for all applicants, providing a letter of invitation from a host in Canada (such as a friend or family member) significantly strengthens your application.
