What is the New Brunswick Immigrant Candidate Program?

The New Brunswick Immigrant Candidate Program is one of Canada’s provincial candidate programs. New Brunswick nominates immigrants for permanent residence based on local workforce needs through the NBPNP. This PNP option in Canada is ideal for you if you are looking for a great destination to build a career or raise a family.

The New Brunswick Government has created the New Brunswick Candidate Program to support the province’s population and economic growth. Candidates in the Express Entry Pool are among those eligible for Provincial Nomination through the NBPNP. Note that this could add 600 points to their CRS score and effectively secure their ITA for Canada PR in the subsequent Express Entry draw.

The four immigration streams for the New Brunswick Candidate Program are:

• New Brunswick Entrepreneurial Stream
• New Brunswick Skilled Workers with Employer Support
• New Brunswick Post-Graduate Entrepreneurial Stream

New Brunswick Express Entry Labor Market  Stream

The Express Entry Labor Market Stream is part of the New Brunswick Candidate Program Immigrant Stream. It targets highly skilled foreign workers who can contribute to the economy of the prefecture. The New Brunswick Labor Market Stream Express Entry operates on a system of EOI (Expression of Interest). We only accept EOI from candidates who meet the exact criteria that differ from the stream’s selection criteria. As of July 2019, Immigration Stream will receive EOI from applicants who meet the following requirements:

• Have an active profile in Express Entry. 
• Currently lives and works in New Brunswick.
• A letter of employment letter from the employer must accompany the EOI.
• Must be employed in a position with NOC code B, A, or 0, or TEER 0, 1, 2 and 3 and the EOI must consist of NOC code/ TEER.
• Have a legal Canadian work permit.
• Have a genuine French or English test score that meets CLB – Canadian Language Benchmark Level 7. Possess an ECA – Educational Credentials Assessment Report, which certifies an educational level equivalent to a Canadian high school diploma.

The Express Entry Labor Market Stream in New Brunswick operates through the EOI system. If you are eligible for Stream, you must create a profile in the Federal Express Entry Pool. The EOI must then be emailed to the New Brunswick Candidate Program.

EOI acquisition may be interrupted by NBPNP. Unlike most other provinces in Canada, New Brunswick does not announce when it will be able to receive its new EOI. It reviews EOI received and selects the most suitable applicant to submit a complete application for state endorsement.

New Brunswick Entrepreneurial Stream

The Entrepreneurial Stream in New Brunswick is one of its NBPNP streams, a PNP in Canada. This is intended for senior business managers or experienced business owners who plan to reside in the state.

Only candidates who have a valid affiliation with the State of New Brunswick may submit their EOI for the corporate sector. They must have visited the state for at least 5 business days in the past year. Alternatively, they must have attended a Stream briefing in the past year. Successful candidates must start a new business or purchase an existing business and actively participate in day-to-day management functions.

Assessment grid

To be eligible to submit EOI for the Entrepreneurial Stream, the candidate must achieve a minimum of 65 points on the scoring table. This immigration flow also uses a point grid to rank candidates. Invitations to apply for the stream will only be offered to candidates with highly competitive scores.

Postgraduate Entrepreneurship Stream in New Brunswick

The Post-Graduate Entrepreneurial Stream is for foreigners who have attended and graduated from New Brunswick post-secondary school. You must also have established a thriving business in the province.

Stream applicants must have a valid post-secondary degree from New Brunswick. They must also own and operate a business in the state for at least one year. Candidates must have completed a minimum of two years of full-time study in a post-secondary education program. It could be at an accredited university or community college in New Brunswick. Also, they must have been a resident of the state for the duration of the academic program.

Business Requirements

To qualify for the Post-Graduate Entrepreneurial Stream, you must have operated and owned a thriving business in the state for at least one year. The business must also meet certain additional requirements. Must own 100% of the company and be actively involved in day-to-day management.

You must also receive compensation from the company at a minimum of LICO – Low-Income Cutoff plus 10%. The company must be a for-profit company and have at least one full-time Canadian permanent resident or citizen.

New Brunswick Skilled Worker Applicants having Employer Support

The employer Support Skilled Worker Applicants stream is for highly qualified foreign workers who have received a legitimate job offer from a New Brunswick employer. Requisitions must be for NOC National Classification Skill Level B, A, or 0 positions or TEER 0, 1, 2, 3. If the requisition relates to NOC Skill Level D or C position, it must be classified as NOC Skill Type 9, 8, 7, 3, or 1 or TEER 0, 1, 2 and 3 to be considered valid.

Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program

New Brunswick is one of the participants in the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program. AIPP is an employer-led immigration program aimed at increasing the workforce and population in its four provinces of Atlantic Canada. In addition, they will invite 2,000 immigrants and their families to immigrate to Canada through AIPP. This applies to any of the four provinces: New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland & Labrador, and Prince Edward Island.
